Air Force Station Exhibition
On Saturday, the 7th of October, 2017, the students of Grades 5, 6 and 7 visited the Air Force Station Exhibition at Lohegaon. They were excited to see and learn about the arms and ammunition, missiles, various vehicles and aircrafts used by the forces. It was a truly fruitful field trip indeed.
Diwali is celebrated everywhere as a joyous family affair. At DYPIS, on the 13th of October, 2017, we had a Diwali Party to mark the triumph of good over evil. The students had a lot of fun singing, dancing and sharing party snacks.
On the 31st of October, the school dawned a feeling of spookiness as the students and teachers came aptly dressed in their scary best for Halloween. The students were appreciated for the concept, effort and creativity of their costumes.
On the 3rd of November, 2017, the children enjoyed the pottery workshop and were in awe of how quickly a lump of clay could be transformed into a beautiful pot.
Children's Day The birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the 14th of November, is celebrated as Children's Day every year. This year, each child relished the muffin and the sweets which they received from the school on the 13th of November, 2017.
Trip to Imagica
The trip to Imagica – the largest theme park in Western India, was another wonderful experience enjoyed by the students of Grades 4 to 7 on the 9th of December, 2018.
The much awaited Winter Carnival was held on the 16th of December, 2017. It was a perfect balance of outstanding performances, exciting games, immense creativity and delicious food. Being the Christmas season, the students of Grades 3 put up a combination of drama, song and dance through the Nativity Play depicting the story of the birth of Christ. The students of Grades 4 to 7 put up a variety of foot tapping dance performances.
Christmas Party Christmas holds a special, quite magical aura and Christmas parties add to this magic. On the 20th of December, 2017, the children came dressed in combinations of red, green and white for the party they were all looking forward to. The children enjoyed meeting Santa and listening to Christmas carols while sharing the snacks they had brought.
On the occasion of Founder's Day, hampers containing groceries and items of daily necessity were distributed to families working in brick kilns in association with Indian Sponsorship Committee and to underprivileged families in association with the St Vincent DePaul Society, Pune. A part of the collection was also sent to Snehalaya – an organization in Wagholi working for the benefit of children with special needs. It was heart-warming to see that our children willingly brought in the items asked for, thereby helping us achieve our objective, of making our children sensitive to the needs of others.
The students of Grades 6 and 7 participated in the much awaited SPANDAN 2017 – a sports event held at The Cathedral Vidya School, Lonavala. Our students surely did a great job in making their presence felt in various games that they played over a span of two days. It was an event full of excitement, adventure, fun and a great learning experience for our students.
Kite making Competition
Encouraging creativity has always been a priority at DYPIS. The students thoroughly enjoyed the Kite Making Competition which was held on the 12th of January, 2018. The kites were made beautifully by the students, fulfilling the criteria of creativity, neatness and the use of decorative material.
The much awaited Whiz-Quiz Competition was held on the 6th of February, 2018 after a series of elimination rounds. It was a treat to see the enthusiasm with which our students of Grades 1 to 7 participated in the same.
Science exhibition On Saturday, the 17th of February, 2018, the Science Exhibition was held. Our young and eager scientists displayed their models based on scientific theories and explained the functioning of the same with great confidence and fluency.
Marathi Diwas DYPIS lays a lot of emphasis on Marathi, as a language, and strives to inculcate a sense of pride towards the Maharashtrian culture. On the occasion of Marathi Diwas, celebrated on the 27th of February, 2018, our students came dressed in traditional Maharashtrian attire and each class participated in grade specific activities which included a fancy dress competition, a food fest, Warli painting, fort making, Mandala making and collaborative painting.
Tuesday, the 25th of July 2017 saw proud parents and members of staff of the D Y Patil International School look on as the Student Council Body and the Prefects for the academic year 2016-17 were invested. In addition to the sixteen members of the Student Council, two students per class – a boy and a girl, assumed the role of Class Prefects for their respective classes.
The Intramural Competition
Independence Day Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm on the morning of the 15th of August, 2017. The ceremony was attended by a number of people including the staff, students and parents of the D Y Patil family. To commemorate this auspicious day, the Chief Guest – Prof Dr E B Khedkar – the officiating Vice Chancellor of the Ajeenkya D Y Patil University, unfurled the tricolor and all, in unison, sang the National Anthem with pride and fervour. The celebrations continued with a cultural programme conducted by the students of Grades 6 and 7.

The Spelling Bee
The Inter-House Spelling Bee was held in the month of August, 2017. After several elimination rounds, students who shone brightly with their ability to spell got a chance to represent their respective houses in the final round. It was heartening to see the enthusiasm and how much the students delighted in each point they won for their houses.
The school places emphasis not only on subject content mastery but also activity and inquiry based learning which teaches children how to research and share information. This is where our project work comes in. The students enjoyed doing their projects, in the classroom, between the 11th of August and the 20th of August, 2017. These projects not only added an element of fun to regular learning but also gave the students the opportunity to add a maximum score of 20 to their term-end assessments.
The Sports Exhibition
On the 29th of August, 2017, our students got an insight into various aspects of the sports world at the Sports Exhibition organized by the students of Grades 6 and 7 under the guidance of their mentors – our Physical Education Instructors. They made excellent models and explained the rules and regulations of various sports, ensuring that every visitor was motivated to follow in the footsteps of famous sportspersons.
In the end of August, 2017, the students of Grades 2 and 3 were taken for the movie "Sniff" to Carnival Cinemas. The students waited eagerly for the popcorn and soft drink that were served. They all enjoyed the movie thoroughly and had a great experience altogether.
The Recitation Competition was held during the months of August and September, 2017. Each Class Teacher was entrusted with the responsibility of preparing their students with a poem that was recited by the entire class. After the elimination round, the eagerness and confidence with which the finalists recited their poems left the audience thoroughly entertained.
Hindi, being our national language, has always been given great importance at the D Y Patil International School. On Thursday, the 14th of September, 2107, Hindi Diwas was celebrated with zeal at the school. As part of the celebration, children were given the opportunity to prove their command over the language, through the medium of narration, recitation and elocution.
On Friday, the 29th of September, 2017, our students had a gala time at the Navratri celebrations organized in school. It was wonderful to see them dancing in their traditional attire to the beats of foot tapping Garba music.
